Welcome to Blackshaw Outdoor

Blackshaw Outdoor provides a range of courses and guiding for the mountain biker and walker, all set to the beautiful backdrop of the South Pennine moors and valleys. All courses and guiding are lead by Stephen Hall, an outdoor fanatic and mountain bike guidebook author based near Hebden Bridge.
GIFT VOUCHERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ALL COURSES - JUST GET IN TOUCH TO SEE WHAT WE CAN OFFER.
Mountain bike skills. For bikers there are two levels of skills course on offer - Beginners and Intermediate. These usually start out from the Hebden bridge area, but midweek courses can be relocated to Lee Quarry trail centre if so desired.
You can also choose to have individual or group tuition - you set the agenda and level - and the course will be tailored to your every need (well nearly - we can't get rid of all the uphills!). This is an excellent option for families or parent/child tuition.
Guiding for mountain bikers. Guiding can be provided for mountain bikers across the whole South Pennines area, the southern half of the Yorkshire dales and the northern Peak District. Guiding works on a very different basis to the skills instruction, have a look at the Guiding page for more details.
Guiding for walkers. Once again, available across the South Pennines, with the possibility of exploring some of the well known spots as well as some local well kept secrets. Once again, the guiding page provides more detail.
Navigation. Two navigation courses are available, one for bikers and one for walkers as the requirements for each differs quite significantly. If you are a rider who wants more than to just follow the coloured arrows round trail centres but don't have the confidence to plan and follow routes using Ordnance Survey (or other) maps then this is the course for you. If you walk in groups and just follow the leader even if it isn't your ideal walk, but you don't have the confidence to take the lead or go out on your own then, once again, this course is just what you are looking for.
